The Importance of Exercise

Exercise offers a host of benefits for seniors, so it's important that senior adults get some form of physical activity each day. Preventing heart disease and diabetes is just the beginning. Older adults' immune systems are boosted and preventable diseases can be managed through exercise. Mental health is improved, the risk of falls drops, cognitive function can be positively impacted, and social ties can be formed through participating in activities that get seniors moving. With all of these benefits, it's hard to find a good reason to skip that daily exercise regimen!

Exercise doesn't have to be strenuous. Chair aerobics offers a way for older adults to move without putting too much strain on the body. Balance issues? No problem! This form of exercise gets blood circulating, increases flexibility, lubricates joints, and strengthens muscles. Posture and range of motion are improved--all without risking a fall. Exercise bands like these can be added for anyone wanting a little bit of resistance.
